The below scenario is constructed for illustration purposes only. Please do not adapt the same.

Assuming there are 3 categories namely:

  1. Testing A

  2. Testing B

  3. Testing C

Assuming the fields in the Submission Form are

  1. Name

  2. Email

  3. Telephone

  4. Paragraph of Text

  5. File Upload

We need the following fields to be made visible upon selecting the respective categories:

Category: Testing A
Fields: Name, Paragraph of Text & File Upload

Category: Testing B
Fields: Name, Email & Paragraph of Text

Category: Testing C
Fields: Name, Email, Telephone & Paragraph of Text

STEPS:

The user must select the following fields on the Submission Form prior to setting up the desired criteria.

Category – Default field

Title of Entry – This is a default field. However, the name of the label can be changed.
(For example -  Title of Entry can be changed to Project Details etc.)

Custom Field Setting Process:

To create the custom view the user must click on the edit option provided beside each field.

Name: This is field is common in all the 3 categories. Hence the field setting is not required.

Paragraph of Text: This is field is also common in all the 3 categories. Hence the field setting is not required.

Email: This field should only be visible when an entrant selects Category B or C. So please use the below settings.

Telephone: This field should only be visible when an entrant selects Category C. So please use the below settings.

File Upload: This field should only be visible when an entrant selects Category A. So please use the below settings:

In all the above 3 cases, you need to also set up the Visible in Judging option. Upon doing this the judges will only see the relevant fields for which the visibility is turned ON.

Consider another scenario whether your Submission Form has more than 20 fields with 10 or more categories and then you want only certain fields to pop up upon selecting below the 10 categories.

Assuming there are 10 categories namely:

  1. Testing A

  2. Testing B

  3. Testing C

  4. Testing D

  5. Testing E

  6. Testing F

  7. Testing G

  8. Testing H

  9. Testing I

  10. Testing J

Assuming the fields in the Submission Form are

  1. Name

  2. Email

  3. Telephone

  4. Single Line of Text

  5. Paragraph of Text

  6. Paragraph of Text 2

  7. Paragraph of Text 3

  8. Radio Button

  9. Drop Down

  10. File Upload

Then use the function given below for all the 10 Submission fields:

^(Testing A|Testing B|Testing C|Testing D|Testing E|Testing F|Testing G|Testing H|Testing I|Testing J)

Apart from the Required, Visible and Visible in Judging, you will also notice a couple of fields under the Required/Visible option and they are Visible In Endorsement and Visible In Judging Grid.

a) Visible In Endorsement - Use the visibility settings for this option only if you have Turned On the Endorsement option and if you want a particular field to be made visible to the endorsers.

b) Visible In Judging Grid - In most cases, users do not TURN ON this option.
